Slam City Skates x Nike SB 'Go Skateboarding Day 2015' In London: Part 2

'Go Skateboarding Day' is no more an ordinary day - it's a big day and an important one for shops and brands. It brings young and old, first comers and established pros, brands and shops all together for one thing - to push down the streets and have fun at least once a year.

As on the previous occasion a year ago Nike SB & Slam City Skates store in London came together and did put a day long event with different stops and prize incentives for skateboarders of all ages and skills to enjoy.

The idea was to get together at the Slam City Skates East store first and then push to 3 different locations in East London. Nike SB also flew in its US riders Donovon Piscopo & John Fitzgerald to support the event.

The turn up at the meeting point was great, pavement in front of the shop couldn't host everyone, pedestrians had to switch to another side of the street to walk through. Slam City Skates team riders, Nike SB UK riders and many more showed up along with their digital, film and stills cameras ready to push and document. Neil Smith was on the mic and in charge for the second year in a row.

The first stop was just round the corner from the shop, but for some reason everyone missed the turn and pushed up the street. Cars, buses and pedestrians had to stop. The entire road was just for skateboarders. It was a great feeling. About 10 mins in Neil and the rest of the team realised that we were going the wrong direction, so everyone had to push back and look for the right spot. Eventually everyone got there in one piece. Up for grabs were couple of kickers to jump off or use for wallrides. Both general public and team riders had fun and landed a variety of tricks.

Next stop was a BMX track in Hackney right next to the Hackney City Farm. Dust and lots of slams - that's how to describe it in short. The track is a a rough surface and not ideal for normal setups, but Slam City Skates had cruisers with soft and large wheels with them and made the impossible possible. Several races around the track were held for the delight of the spectators. Some riders even managed it on their normal wheels.

The last and final stop was at the Victoria skatepark where a special pizza delivery was scheduled for the end of the day. Most of the original crowd made it to the final stop and some won the magic cruisers from the previous stop. Delivery arrived as scheduled. Of course there was a traditional fight for a slice of pizza, but there was enough and everyone finished the day on the positive 'full stomach' note.
